The Building Materials Resource Center was launched in 1994 by the founders of the Boston Building Materials Co-op, a 23-year old building materials retailer and technical assistance provider.  In creating the BMRC, its founders were realizing their long held dream of making the materials and services of the Co-op available to those individuals and families who could not afford to pay full price.

Everyone wins with the BMRC: Donors (of materials) earn valuable tax deductions and save on disposal fees.  Homeowners and nonprofits gain access to the materials and assistance they need to care for their homes affordably.  And perfectly good building materials are diverted from landfills.
