Mission:
Our Mission
Since its founding in 1985, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) has been guided by a simple but compelling mission -
To provide and assure access to the highest quality health care for Boston's homeless men, women, and children.
What We Do
BHCHP has pioneered a unique way of delivering medical care that overcomes many of the obstacles homeless people face due to the harsh and chaotic conditions of their lives.
Our program makes care easily accessible by locating clinics in homeless shelters and soup kitchens. We work hard to provide continuity of health services from the streets and shelters through emergency departments, hospitals and follow-up care.
BHCHP began in 1985 with six health workers. Today BHCHP:
Employs over 250 people
Delivers medical, dental and mental health services
Cares for more than 9,000 homeless men, women, and children each year
Offers health services at more than 70 sites throughout the Boston area.
